The Spring Concert showcases the depth and artistry of Sawnee Ballet Theatre’s dancers, offering a diverse program that blends storytelling, musical interpretation, and technical excellence.

At the heart of this year’s performance is Peter and the Wolf, a delightful ballet interpretation of Sergei Prokofiev’s famous symphonic tale. Each character in the story is brought to life by a unique instrument and movement style, introducing young audiences to both classical music and expressive dance.

Follow the adventurous young Peter as he ventures beyond the garden gate, encountering a charming cast of characters—a duck, a bird, a cat, and the formidable Wolf. With courage and cleverness, Peter outwits the Wolf and brings him safely to the zoo, all with the help of his animal friends and a few brave hunters.

In addition to Peter and the Wolf, audiences will enjoy a range of repertory works, highlighting both musical theatre and modern influences. These pieces demonstrate the versatility and passion of our dancers and the creative vision of our choreographers.

INSPIRATIONS is a student choreographed showcase (much like a dance talent show) designed to encourage SSA dancers to explore their creative side and learn about the various aspects of choreographing a dance.  Dancers first pick a song that inspires them, then choreograph movement, choose costumes (can be a past recital costume, Amazon find, or from a trip to Target), and edit their own music.  Entry fee per piece is $25, and limited studio rentals will be available for $10 per session.  As always, this event is a fundraiser with proceeds benefitting a non-profit organization.
