Sapphires

Sapphires Community Performance Group

Formed in 2014, the Sapphires are a recreational performing group for dancers in 3rd grade and above who are passionate about performing, growing as dancers, and building friendships through the arts. Dancers meet weekly to train, learn, and rehearse choreography in a fun and encouraging environment.

Auditions for the Sapphires program are held each April and are open to interested dancers. In addition, invitations may also be extended throughout the summer following evaluations during our Mini Summer Sampler and Summer Dance Intensive programs.

Sapphires dancers are required to take two classes per week in genres of their choosing in addition to their weekly Sapphires class held on Mondays. Known for their entertaining performances in jazz, lyrical, and musical theatre, the Sapphires can often be seen performing throughout the community at assisted living centers, festivals, outreach events, and local benefits.

Each spring, the Sapphires host Inspirations, a White Box Benefit Performance and student-choreographed showcase similar to a talent show. In addition to performing their own group dances, Sapphires dancers help present an evening featuring original works created and performed by SSA dancers. Through this annual community event, nearly $10,000 has been raised for nonprofit organizations including Relay for Life Forsyth-North Fulton, Operation Christmas Child, CASA of Forsyth County, Super Science Kids, and more. The March 2026 performance raised a record-breaking $2,174.33 for the Georgia English Bulldog Rescue.

Additional yearly activities include guest instructor workshops, team bonding events, choreography camps, community performances, and an end-of-season awards potluck.

The Sapphires program serves as a wonderful stepping stone for dancers aspiring to audition for Sawnee Ballet Theatre (SBT), while also providing a strong performance-based home for dancers who enjoy styles beyond a primary focus in ballet.
