SBT's Nutcracker Auditions

Celebrate 35 Years of The Nutcracker with Sawnee Ballet Theatre!
Be part of Sawnee Ballet Theatre’s 35th anniversary production of The Nutcracker! Community auditions are free and open to the public, with no prior affiliation with SBT or Sawnee School of the Arts required.
Youth Auditions | Ages 6–18
August 29 at the FoCAL Center
Auditions begin at 9:00 a.m. and are divided by grade level.
Adult Community Cast Auditions
September 1 at Sawnee School of the Arts
8:30–9:30 p.m.
No dance experience required.

Sawnee Ballet Theatre

Sawnee Ballet Theatre (SBT) is a distinguished 501(c)(3) nonprofit pre-professional ballet company based in Cumming, Georgia. Founded in 1991, SBT exists to inspire, educate, and enrich the community through high-quality ballet performances, meaningful outreach, and disciplined dance training.
Guided by a volunteer Board of Directors and led by Artistic Director Courtney Bromwich, SBT provides dancers with professional-level performance opportunities in an encouraging and artistically rich environment. Each season features signature productions such as The Nutcracker and our Spring Concert, along with repertory works and community appearances.
As a nonprofit organization, we are deeply rooted in our mission to make the performing arts accessible, impactful, and enduring in Forsyth County and beyond.

Sawnee Sapphires

The SSA Sapphires give dancers the opportunity to take their training beyond the classroom through additional performances, community events, and special projects throughout the season. Open to dancers in rising 3rd grade and up, Sapphires build confidence, teamwork, and performance skills while representing Sawnee School of the Arts in our community.
Dancers are selected through auditions and assessments each spring, with additional assessment opportunities available during select summer programs. Sapphires meet weekly and participate in performances throughout the year, sharing their love of dance both onstage and throughout our community.

Maria Cull Life Scholarship

Each year, Sawnee School of the Arts awards the $1,000 Maria Cull Life Scholarship to a graduating senior who demonstrates how their experiences at SSA have shaped the person they are becoming.
The scholarship was established in memory of Maria Cull and celebrates the life lessons gained through dance, including dedication, accountability, teamwork, and perseverance.
Congratulations to Avery Johnson, our 2026 Maria Cull Life Scholarship recipient! We are proud to recognize Avery and the lasting impact dance has had on her journey at SSA and beyond.

Classroom Assistant Program

Our Classroom Assistant Program gives SSA dancers ages 10 and up the opportunity to build leadership skills while working alongside our faculty and supporting younger dancers in the classroom. Assistants help with demonstrations, organization, and encouragement while gaining a behind-the-scenes look at teaching dance.
Led by Miss Ari, the program is a wonderful way to develop confidence, responsibility, and communication skills while sharing a love of dance with the next generation of SSA students. Applications are accepted each summer for the upcoming season.
Dancers interested in trying the experience with a smaller commitment can apply to be a Recital Assistant in January, helping with select younger classes and joining them onstage at recital.
