Dancers should arrive in the designated attire and shoes for their class. Proper dancewear allows instructors to clearly see alignment and technique while giving dancers the mobility, support, and connection to the floor needed to dance safely and effectively.

For Elementary Ballet levels and above, hair must be securely worn in a bun. Dancers who are not properly dressed or do not have the appropriate shoes may not be permitted to participate in class.

We ask dancers to wear a skirt, cover-up, coat, or other appropriate clothing over their dancewear when arriving at and leaving the studio.

Street shoes are not permitted on the dance floors. This helps protect both our specialized flooring and helps ensure the longevity of a dancers' shoes.

Please label dance bags, shoes, leotards, water bottles, and other personal belongings with your dancer's name or initials. SSA is not responsible for lost or misplaced items.

Only water is permitted inside the lobby and dance rooms. Food, gum, and other beverages must remain outside the building.

Class and level placement is determined by each dancer's technical proficiency, readiness, and individual potential rather than age or length of training alone. Our faculty carefully considers placement to ensure dancers are in an environment where they can progress safely and successfully.

Consistent attendance is an important part of a dancer's progress. Classes missed due to illness or other personal reasons may be made up in an appropriate class when available. Makeup classes must be scheduled in advance through the front desk.

For the safety of our dancers, students arriving more than 10 minutes after class has begun will not be permitted to participate. The beginning of class includes important warm-up exercises that prepare the body for the movement that follows and helps prevent muscle strains and injury. If you anticipate arriving more than 10 minutes late, please contact the office to arrange a makeup class.

If a dancer becomes ill or is injured during class, the instructor will send the dancer to the front desk so a parent or guardian can be notified.

To provide dancers with a focused learning environment and minimize classroom distractions, parents and guardians do not remain inside the classroom during regular classes unless invited by the instructor.

Families are invited into the classroom during our two Parent Watch Weeks offered throughout the dance year. These special weeks provide an opportunity to see your dancer's progress and experience what they have been working on in class.

We expect dancers to be respectful of their instructors, classmates, staff, and studio space. Running, excessive noise, and disruptive behavior are not permitted.

If we have ongoing concerns about a dancer's adjustment to the classroom environment, participation, or behavior, we will communicate with the dancer's parent or guardian so we can work together toward a positive experience.

The office must be notified in advance if a dancer will be walking home, using a rideshare service, going to another specified location, or leaving with someone other than their usual authorized transportation.

Our Annual Recital is held each spring and gives dancers the opportunity to share what they have learned in a professional performance setting. Participation is not mandatory, but we believe the recital experience is a valuable and exciting part of a dancer's training.
