Classroom Assistant Program

Our Classroom Assistant Program is a chance for our more experienced dancers ages 10 and up to step into a leadership role, working alongside SSA instructors to support our younger students in the classroom. Assistants help with demonstrations, keep things organized, and offer the kind of encouragement that makes a big difference to a young dancer just finding their footing. The program is headed up by Miss Ari, and dancers apply during the summer for the upcoming season.

It's a great way to build confidence and responsibility, and to practice the everyday communication skills that come with looking after someone else's learning. Along the way, assistants get a real, behind-the-scenes look at how dance is taught — all while passing on their love of dance to the next generation of SSA students.

For dancers who want to dip a toe in first, we also offer Recital Assistant opportunities in January. It's a smaller commitment and a great introduction to what it's like to be a Classroom Assistant. Recital Assistants get to dance onstage alongside our littlest dancers in our 2-3 and 4-5 Year Old Ballets as well as select Primary/Secondary classes — a fun, low-pressure way to experience the joy of mentoring before committing to a full season.
