Sterling Baker-McClary

Mr. Sterling is a consummate performing artist and passionate advocate for the arts. A classically trained dancer proficient in more than seven distinct dance styles, he also brings extensive training in vocal performance and dramatic arts, with a strong foundation in both commercial and musical theatre. His early career included performances across a variety of venues throughout Georgia, where his dynamic presence on stage quickly garnered attention.

Sterling refined his craft at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, studying musical theatre and dance. This period of intensive study laid the groundwork for a robust and multidimensional career, allowing him to share his passion for performance across the country. He has graced the stages of prominent theatrical venues and taught in respected dance studios nationwide.

Over the past five years, Sterling has performed with world-renowned companies including Celebrity Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, and other major cruise entertainment providers. His breakout theatrical roles include portraying Marty the Zebra in the National Tour of Madagascar the Musical and currently, the electrifying role of Ike Turner in the Broadway National Tour of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.

Beyond the stage, Sterling’s versatility extends into choreography, teaching, casting, coaching, and even music production. With a career that bridges performance and mentorship, he continues to bring artistic excellence to every facet of the entertainment industry—consistently delivering work that reflects depth, discipline, and a commitment to quality.

Mr. Sterling first joined us at SSA for Sawnee Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive last year and returned to choreograph “Red Hot!”, our Too Darn Hot musical theatre number that opened this year’s Vivid Recital. We are excited to now officially welcome him to the SSA Faculty!
